FAQs

What conditions do stem cell therapies help with?

Stem cell therapy is actively being used and studied for joint pain and arthritis; sports injuries (tendon, ligament, cartilage damage); degenerative conditions (such as osteoarthritis or disc issues); certain chronic pain conditions; and neurological and autoimmune conditions (which are still emerging and experimental). During your medical assessment, Dr. Drozd will evaluate whether stem cell therapy is appropriate for your specific health concerns and goals.

How are stem cell treatments administered?

Stem cells are typically injected directly into the affected area (for example, a joint or tendon). In some cases, intravenous (IV) infusion may be used for systemic conditions. Treatments are performed in the comfort of the Lucid Therapeutics clinic and each treatment takes 1–2 hours.

Are stem cell treatments safe?

When performed under medical supervision, stem cell therapy is generally considered safe. Mild side effects such as temporary soreness, swelling, or discomfort at the injection site, are possible. Serious risks are rare but may include infection, bleeding, or unintended tissue effects.

How many treatments are typically needed?

Some patients benefit from a single treatment, while others may need a series of treatments, depending on their condition. Dr. Drozd will create a personalized plan based on your treatment response and goals.

Will insurance cover stem cell therapy?

In most cases, insurance does not cover stem cell therapy for orthopedic, pain, or wellness purposes, as these applications are still considered experimental. Stem cell treatments are usually an out-of-pocket expense. The Lucid Care Team can provide cost details and discuss financing options, if needed.

Where do the stem cells come from?

Stem cells can be sourced from autologous cells, which come from your own body, often from bone marrow or fat tissue. They can also be sourced from allogeneic cells, which are donor-derived, often from umbilical cord tissue or amniotic sources. The cells are then processed to ensure safety. Lucid Therapeutics only uses carefully-screened and ethically-sourced stem cells.

How long does it take to see results?

Tissue repair and regeneration is a gradual process. Some patients may notice improvement within a few weeks, while it may take several months for other individuals. Results can vary depending on the condition being treated, the overall health of the patient, and the treatment protocol used.

Are there risks or side effects?

Common or mild side effects from stem cell therapy may include temporary swelling, soreness, or bruising at the injection site. Less common side effects include headache, fatigue, or mild flu-like symptoms if IV infusion is used. Rare side effects can include infection, allergic reaction, or unintended cell growth. Dr. Drozd will review your medical history to minimize risks and ensure stem cell treatment is right for you.

Are stem cell treatments FDA approved?

Currently, the FDA has approved stem cell use only for certain blood disorders and bone marrow transplants. Many other uses — such as for joint pain, neurological issues, or anti-aging — are considered experimental or “off-label.” Lucid Therapeutics uses high-quality, regulated products and follows important safety protocols; however, it’s important to understand that most applications of stem cell treatments are not yet FDA approved.
